Marine City Beach

Enjoy the sun and sand at Marine City Beach, just minutes from the Heather House. This beautiful beach is free and open to the public, featuring a playground, public restrooms, covered seating, and barbeque grills.

 

Kayaking and Canoeing

Explore the coastal water trail paddling routes. There are 22 kayak/canoe launch sites on Lake St. Clair. Muskie fishing is fantastic on the lake and there are amazing historical and natural features to observe from the water.

There is the Edsel & Eleanor Ford's house, Metro Beach & Blake Creek Marsh, Salt River Marsh, St. John's Marsh, Harsens Island, and the South Channel Lights to name a few! Pick up a map in The Heather House foyer to begin your adventure.

 

Bike Trails

The Bridge to Bay trail extends from Port Huron to Algonac. You'll pass state and municipal parks, museums, gazebos and lighthouses. Sometimes the trail is within reach of the water's edge and sometimes a few miles inland. Stop and enjoy the views of the passing freighters!

 

Marine City's Outdoor Maritime Museum

Explore the relics and artifacts of the golden era of the Great Lakes shipping in Marine City. Several parks dotted along the river compose this outdoor museum, complete with beautiful mosaics designed by Heather Bokram, the previous owner of the Heather House.

Marine City's Pride & Heritage Museum

Built in 1847, this building has had over a dozen uses for Marine City. Visit the museum to hear the fascinating story.

 

Captain David Lester Historical Residence

The Captain David Lester Residence is owned by the Lester-Brown Foundation, whose primary focus is to maintain the residence for the purpose of architectural and educational historical awareness for the citizens and visitors to Marine City, Michigan.
